GOALS: The Quality Audit
GOALS (General Organizational Adaptive
Learning Survey) is an advanced measuring system designed to help
organizations gain and maintain a competitive advantage in today's marketplace. The
starting point for the development of GOALS was the Malcolm Baldrige National
Quality Criteria and the large body of research that exists concerning the factors
contributing to organizational performance. GOALS provides leaders with information
about the seven quality criteria and related subcriteria. It also provides action-oriented
information about the organization's strengths and weaknesses relative to the Baldrige
quality factors, as well as other aspects of the total work environment. GOALS data
can be used to:
- Discover how your
organization is perceived on important quality dimensions and critical performance factors
- Identify areas of
strength and opportunities for improvement
- Track and analyze
quality improvement efforts
- Develop internal
benchmarks
- Compare your
organization to other organizations in your industry
- Project your Baldrige
Award score based on employee perceptions and the Baldrige scoring procedure
- Increase employee
awareness of quality
- Calculate the impact
and cost of change on your quality improvement efforts
- Monitor results of
change over time
- Adjust action plans to
ensure success
